Service Description
Barn hunt is an exciting, instinct-driven dog sport that allows dogs to safely and humanely channel their natural prey drive by hunting rats in a controlled, enclosed environment. This 6-week group course is designed to introduce dogs and handlers to the fundamentals of the sport while building confidence, focus, and teamwork. During each class, dogs will learn how to search, track scent, and indicate the presence of a rat using their natural hunting instincts. The course focuses on proper technique, safe handling, and clear communication between dog and handler. Whether your dog is a terrier, a herding breed, or simply has a strong curiosity and prey drive, Barn hunt provides a rewarding mental and physical workout. This course is ideal for dogs that love to sniff, chase, and problem-solve. It is also an excellent outlet for high-energy or working breeds that need meaningful enrichment. No prior sport experience is required—just a healthy, motivated dog ready to have fun. By the end of the six weeks, teams will have a strong foundation in Barn hunt skills, increased confidence in the search, and a deeper bond through this engaging and unique activity. Barn hunt does consist of hunting in straw.
